Glad to hear it. A little teaser: the next story is set in 2504 at the start of the Liu administration, and is from the perspective of the American Ambassador to the United Nations.

Cool stuff man! Just gotta ask. Does the un have an army? Or just a marine corps?

So technically speaking it has neither. COMPMARFORCOM is, de jure, a unified command structure rather than a military itself (though pretending that the militaries who operate through it are actually independent is a delusion left for the member nations to feel good about themselves). COMPMARFORCOM has many Army units from various member nations seconded to it, and some member nations' sole contribution to COMPMARFORCOM is Army because they don't have a Marine Corps. However, due to COMPMARFORCOM's expeditionary nature and embarkment aboard UNC warships, all forces, true Marines and Soldiers alike, are often referred to by the simple term "Marines".

That said, many nations do in fact maintain an Army of some form; the United States and China among them. Many of the non-Earth nations never had a need for an Army— Mars, for example, has no ground forces beyond the Federal Marines. These Armies are organized under the UN Defense Structure's Domestic Forces Office, and are officially denoted as National Guards— reserves that can be called upon in the event of full scale war or a last line of defense should the unthinkable occur.

Ahhh, I’m a big fan of halo or hammers slammers. In regards to ground war in space. So mars is part of Minerva right?

No, it's not. It's the seat of the United Nations, so about as far opposite as you can get... That said, due to heavy Martian colonization in the early days of Minervan settlement, there's a lot of cultural overlap.

Ahhh, I figured mars was the war machine that made the uns military turn. I’m not very read up on the lore. Is there anywhere to start. Also, what ground combat look like?

Check out https://www.waybound.space/p/start-here for a good overview of everything, and no, Mars is certainly an industrial powerhouse but it's not like Halo— Mars is just as influential if not more so than Earth. The UN maintains no blue water navy, though many constituent nations maintain smaller forces as antipiracy fleets.
